A close relationship has always existed between engineering and art and this is true at Navy Wings. Logistics Manager (and artist), Steve Winter, has had 3 of his paintings selected to feature at the ‘Aviation Paintings of the Year’.

The 2025 annual exhibition is being held at Shuttleworth in Bedfordshire.

Steve said,  ‘I have always loved to draw and paint. Painting is my happy place where I can block out the stress of the world and have total control of the landscapes I create.

I often find the research stage just as interesting as the painting and I especially enjoy telling the stories of lesser-known actions where photographs often don’t exist and I can create an image to keep these people’s memories alive for future generations.

I have always been inspired by the amazing aviation scenes created by Nicolas Trudgian, Mark Postlewaite and Micheal Turner to name a few and having my own paintings displayed alongside these and other amazing aviation painters is a real privilege.’

Steve’s artworks chosen for this year’s exhibition represent a mix of the modern and historic and can be seen below.
