Following the success of the inaugural Fleet Air Arm Charity Shoot at the Royal Berkshire Shooting School in 2019, everyone had been looking forward to this year’s event with eager anticipation.
Unfortunately, however, the ongoing public health concerns of coronavirus have meant we have had to take the disappointing decision to postpone this popular day until Autumn 2021.
The Royal Berkshire Shooting School is one of the premier shooting schools in the country and the day is an opportunity for teams from the Fleet Air Arm to come together with Charity Ambassadors and Corporate partners for a clay-shoot fundraiser in aid of the Royal Navy’s aviation heritage. A magnificent £25,000 was raised last year with the coveted Top Gun prize won by David Blundell. You can see the photo gallery of last year’s event here.
The day includes breakfast followed by a morning’s shooting over ten stands before relaxing into the afternoon with a flypast, champagne reception, leisurely summer lunch and charity auction.
“It was a brilliant day!” said Captain Uves Wood Royal Navy, F-35 Deputy Force Commander. “A highly enjoyable team-bonding day in aid of a great cause!”
The guest of honour was Olympic Gold Medallist Peter Wilson MBE and prizes were presented by Commodore Nick Tindal.
“The shooting, the camaraderie, and the Berkshire countryside was at its best!” said Yaser Martini, one of the guests.

Chairman and Chief Executive of James Purdey & Sons, Dan Jago said, “We are delighted to support Navy Wings and are looking forward to hosting an even more enjoyable and successful day in 2021, helping to raise funds for the charity.”
“Together with The Royal Berkshire Shooting School, we are also pleased to donate a special auction prize for the event – a shooting experience like no other – to really help the day hit the target! The prize is a simulated driven shoot for up to five people, over four drives, around the grounds,” continued Dan. The winners will have free use of a range of Purdey guns on the day. We will also provide a delicious packed-lunch provided by Wild Fork, our in-house caterers.”
Full details of all the auction lots will be published shortly. Watch our website for the rescheduled date in May or early June next year and join us for one of the most memorable days out in your life!
Team Captains are invited to make up teams of four guns and Ladies teams and non-shooting guests are welcome. The day is open to all and professional instructors are on hand at each stand. Teams of four cost £1,600 (guns, insurance, cartridges, and clays inclusive). Concessions are available for serving military and Navy Wings Supporters.
