Navy Wings on the BBC

The team at Navy Wings were delighted to be featured on a new episode of Michael Portillo’s Great British Railway Journeys on Tuesday 19 March on BBC2.

Filming took place last year when one of Michael’s train journeys took him to Yeovil. Michael and the team spent the morning filming with Navy Wings and was able to meet and interview a number of the team.

Michael spent time exploring the heritage hangar with Navy Wings Chief Engineer, Jim Norris, finding out about our ongoing restoration projects, before heading out to the dispersal.

Michael flew in the Harvard, piloted by Navy Wings Chief Pilot, Andrew ‘Mum’ Davis, alongside the Seafire, piloted by Navy Wings Director of Flight Operations, Al McLaren.

Michael interviewed Al after they completed their flight and returned to base.

Michael completed his interviews by talking to Wasp pilot Simon Thomas.

It was a pleasure to host the team from Great British Railway Journeys and we were thrilled to see the finished programme which showcased what the charity is able to achieve.
