Last Thursday we were delighted to welcome 21 teams to the annual Navy Wings Swordfish Golf Day at the magnificent Bowood PGA Course in Wiltshire.
Despite some distinctly questionable ‘summer’ weather at times, spirits remained high throughout the day as players enjoyed a fantastic course, great company and some fiercely competitive golf in support of Navy Wings.
As always, the competition proved incredibly close. Congratulations go to GKN, whose team claimed this year’s Swordfish Trophy — made even more impressive by their second team securing runner-up position as well! Third place was awarded to the team from Denholm, a superb performance from all involved.
The Swordfish Trophy was won this year by the GKN team of Louie Prewer, Ben Haigh, Ray Baxter & Clive Perry.
Our second place team was GKN’s second team of Tom Lloyd, Wayne Powell, Alex Liddiatt & Tony O’Connor.
Denholm’s team of Robert Thomson, Mark Bull, Colin Brown & Damien Perryman placed third.

The event once again brought together many of our valued Corporate Partners, supporters and friends from across the naval and aviation communities. This year we were pleased to welcome teams from the Commando Helicopter Force, Wildcat Maritime Force, RNAS Culdrose Golf Team and the Aeronautical Golf Society. It was also wonderful to have Serco joining us for the first time, alongside the welcome return of Wadworth Brewery.
Most importantly, the day raised vital funds to help preserve and fly the Royal Navy’s historic aircraft collection. Events like this simply would not be possible without the generosity, enthusiasm and continued support of our Corporate Partners and the wider Navy Wings family.
The highlight of the day came at midday, when the Navy Wings Swordfish made a spectacular appearance overhead. Golfers and Bowood staff alike paused to watch the iconic aircraft sweep gracefully around the course before giving a wonderful wing wave as she departed — a fitting reminder of exactly what everyone’s support helps to keep alive.
